One standout moment was when the iconic Slimer appeared, his mouth seemingly adorned with Cheeto dust. Additionally, a promotional photo depicted a clever attempt to lure Slimer with a trail of Cheetos leading to a ghost trap.
Fans’ suspicions were further confirmed when Cheetos’s Instagram page underwent a “chilling” transformation, using a filter showcasing the film’s “Death Chill.” This set the stage for the grand reveal: Cheetos is reintroducing its popular Flamin’ Hot Smoky Ghost Pepper Puffs, packaged in bags designed to evoke a slimy aesthetic, complete with Chester Cheetah sporting his Ghostbusters attire. Each bag contains a QR code enabling entry into a Sony Pictures-sponsored contest, offering winners a chance to attend a future movie premiere or opt for a generous cash prize.
The synergy between Ghostbusters and snack brands doesn’t stop there. ICEE has rolled out four new flavors inspired by the film, including imaginative options like Boo Raspberry and Mischievous Mini-Puft. Kimmra Hingher, vice president of marketing for The ICEE Company, expressed excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing the playful nature of the new flavors.
Not to be outdone, cinema chains are getting in on the action with Ghostbusters-themed popcorn containers. Cinemark offers an Ecto-1 shaped version, while AMC presents a ghost trap variety, and Regal introduces a unique spin on the ghost trap concept. Additionally, Regal tantalizes moviegoers with green caramel-coated popcorn, reminiscent of Slimer’s antics.
“Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” is set to premiere nationwide on March 22, promising a spooky and snack-filled cinematic experience. With anticipation building, fans eagerly await further announcements, wondering if the iconic Ecto Coolers will make a comeback as well.
