Spring has just begun, yet we already have two major spring sales ahead of us. The 2024 Spring Sale from Steam and the one from Epic Games Store are running concurrently, with Epic Games Store offering a particularly enticing free game for this week.
The free game of the week on Epic is Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, the second and final part of the Adam Jensen trilogy. It’s an excellent immersive simulation, although it suffers from two fundamental shortcomings: as a bridge to a planned trilogy, it doesn’t really lead to a satisfying conclusion. With the official end of this trilogy, such closure is unlikely to come.
Nevertheless, Mankind Divided is definitely worth recommending. In our 2016 review, it received an 88%, and we called it “a beautifully crafted game set in a stunning futuristic city.” And who knows, maybe there will eventually be a conclusive part after all, right? (Yes, no matter what Elias Toufexis says, I won’t give up.)
As for the deals: Epic’s Spring Sale may not be as extensive as Steam’s, but there are definitely bargains to be had. EA Sports FC 24 is 80% off, which is a great deal (and the same price as on Steam). Hogwarts Legacy is available at half price, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Alan Wake Remastered are both 67% off, and – if you look a bit closer – even Potato Sack Racing Simulator 2024 (no, that’s not a joke) is 70% off.
Note that the Epic coupon for this sale is not available, so the displayed price is the final price. However, Epic has increased its Epic Rewards program to 10%, meaning that 10% of all game purchases you make during the sale (usually it’s 5%) will be returned as credit that you can use for future purchases. For example, if you buy Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (currently 40% off), you’ll earn enough rewards to get the brilliant Chuchel (which I highly recommend) for free.
I’ve never experienced a video game character with whom I could identify so well.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is available for free on the Epic Games Store until March 21st. The Epic Spring Sale 2024 will continue until March 28th
